Here at Sussman Mazda, we know that fuel economy is important to many drivers in Willow Grove, Willow Manor, and Glenside. Whether you’re taking a road trip or taking on the daily commute, an efficient MPG rating is important.

If you’re thinking about getting behind the wheel of the Mazda6, you’ll probably want to learn more about its efficiency. That’s why we’ve created this guide to the Mazda6 MPG. Keep reading to learn more, then contact us to take a test drive.

Mazda6 Engine Specs

MPG & Efficient Technologies

The Mazda6 Sport and Touring trim levels achieve the same EPA-estimated 26 city/35 highway MPG.* This is thanks in part to the standard 2.5L Skyactiv®-G 4-cylinder engine. It generates 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque.

Technologies like Cylinder Deactivation help give this Mazda6 engine MPG a boost. Cylinder Deactivation shuts down two of the engine’s four cylinders in certain driving conditions. For example, when you’re cruising down the highway at a constant speed, the extra cylinders are not needed to keep your vehicle going. So, shutting them down may help increase efficiency.

This engine also works with the Skyactiv®-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission. It harnesses the engine’s power and provides smooth shifting. You’ll also have the peppy acceleration and efficient cruising of the standard front-wheel drivetrain.

Turbocharged MPG in the MAZDA6

If you’re looking for turbocharged excitement, you’ll want to choose either the Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, or Signature trim levels. Under the hood, they have a 2.5T Skyactiv®-G Dynamic Pressure Turbo engine. It kicks out 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque!

Working with the Skyactiv®-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, this Mazda6 boasts an EPA-estimated 23 city/31 highway MPG.* If you want a more in-tune driving experience, you can shift into the standard Sport mode to feel every bit of this engine’s power!

The 2.5T engine comes with variable valve timing that’s also equipped on the previous engine. It helps increase or decrease the intake of your engine based on the driving conditions. This can help increase performance at low speeds and give the Mazda6 MPG a boost at high speeds.

Mazda6 Performance

Maximizing MPG

While the MPG rating of the Mazda6 is quite efficient to begin with, there are a few tricks you can employ that may help you get even more out of this sports sedan!

For starters, you’ll want to keep up with regularly scheduled vehicle maintenance. This will help keep your Mazda6 performing at its best. Plus, when all the components under the hood are doing their jobs, it’s easier for this sedan to conserve fuel!

Maintaining the right tire inflation is important, too. Check it every 3,000 miles and fill it to the recommended levels as needed. This will help maintain a low rolling resistance, so your Mazda6 doesn’t have to work as hard to get you up to speed!
